centre of the universe: the dreaming

06/12/2008: "Abstraction" I've always been a big, big fan of piercing and body modification.

But some things just don't belong stuck in your body:

And who the hell pierces their *UVULA*, for God's sake?

Today I saw a kid in the mall...one of those cute little mini-punk kids, and he had his earlobes pierced and stretched, which I don't find entirely unattractive (until you start putting dobermans in there)...and in his lobes he was wearing...get this...sockets.

At first, I thought, "is that kid wearing sockets in his ears?"

And then, I thought, "Cool! That kid's wearing sockets in his ears!"

And then Mad Pew, who is my office cohort these days, asked the ubiquitous question about what the chitluns will do if and when they decide to rebel. He raised an interesting point. He said "Kids rebel not by doing what their parents *don't* do, but by being *just like* their parents." That has some crazy ring of truth to it, you know.

Non-sequitir for the day: Thanks for all the birthday wishes. You buoyed me!

My son has stretched ear holes and he wears different sized sockets too. He sterlizes them (at leat he says he does) and then puts them in. He can poke his finger through and twist it around. Freaky is what it is.
But the uvula piercing? Let me tell ya, if that was done professionally they would be out of business before you can say lawsuit. No one can possibly know how that can affect one's health.
I dunno. I would like a tongue piercing but I know of too many people who have had it done and things went terribly wrong.
I did my own nose ring about 12 years ago when nose rings were actually cool and not common. Did it myself, with a sharp and wine cork and loved it. With my cpap machine it creates a leak so I haven't worn it in awhile.

I mentioned your birthday in my LJ...but I'll say it here too. I hope you had a good day..and may your new year bring you as much joy as you spread.

:P

Never had a single problem with my tongue piercing. Even when I repierced it with a paperclip.

I think kids rebel by defying (or at least resisting, for a time) their parents' expectations. So if you expect your kid to be just like you, they won't. But watch out for the kid you tell "for gad's sake, don't do what I did, don't make the same mistakes I did, you can do better than this."

That sew thing in the first picture is absolutly amazing. If I wasn't a wuss when it comes to pain, I would totally get that done. I love lace and things like that. Props.
